PARALLAX GAP
Using photography and painting, Mills creates Parallax Gap, a structural layering of one image viewed through the transparency of another image with a gap in between. The artist refers to this gap as the location to investigate ideas about viewing positions where one can locate oneself within ones own subjectivity. As we move by the paintings the composition shifts and there is displacement of colors, shapes, doublings, and fadings. Mills has created a platform whereby we can actually move out of our point of view and we can indeed see something from a new perspective.
